"Excuse moi de ne t avoir repondu de suite, nous sommes pour/ quelques moi[s] a St Raphaël dans le Var. Car papa avais besoin de/ soleil aussi que notre cher Dien un peu de repos et moi-même/ ca me fait aussi du bien Je suis en entrain de peindre un vieux/ petit village sur un[e] hauteur entourré de vieux olivier[s] J’espère/ que je reussira[i]. Je pense ici beaucoup a Vincent Van Gogh. quel maitre et Cézanne enfin je vais aisseez [essayer] de rendre mon impression personnel […]" [sic] (Excuse me for not having replied immediately, we are spending a couple of months in St. Raphael in the Var, as papa needs some sun and our dear Berendina a little rest, and it does me good as well. I am painting an old little village up on an elevation surrounded by old olive trees, I hope that I will succeed. I think here a lot of Vincent van Gogh.
