[…] Peinture 'Vieilles maisons aux toits de chaume dans le/ nord de la Hollande' les maisons faisant corps avec le pay-/ sage, de beaux arbres aux verts bleus – la bruyère./ Noël Tinayre1 [...] a fait le voyage en Hollande avec Smit/ aux vacances. […]" (Gare de Lyon to Montereau (8:45 – 10:31) Philippe comes to meet me in a car. Visit of his studio. … Painting "old houses with thatched roofs in the north of Holland", the houses united with the landscape, beautiful trees in green/blue shades – heather. 1. Noël Tinayre (1896-1995), son of the writer Marcelle Tinayre (1870-1948), was a friend of the painter Jan Zondag and therefore also very close with Philippe Smit and Berendina. Tinayre, who was an artist himself, is known for his sculptures.
