"[...] Nous […] prenons la charmante route de Recloses, une merveille de couleurs./ Nous arrivons rue Sainte-Reine en leur maison de/ paysan1 où l’extérieur n’a pas été touché./ Ayant acheté une maison mitoyenne (100.000[FRF]) il y a une/ charmante cour pavée [fig. 1], au centre un puits comblé de/ fleurs – des ifs et de la bruyère./ […] Nous allons au nouvel atelier de Philippe./ […] – [Le pastel de] La Cour intérieur de Recloses, dans le vieux puits, il y/ a des géraniums, cette note rouge est fort belle au/ milieu des bruyères. […]" (... We … take the charming road to Recloses, a marvel of colours. We arrive rue Sainte-Reine to their peasant’s cottage1 whose exterior has not been touched. Having bought an adjacent house (FRF 100.000), there is a charming paved courtyard (fig. 1), in the center a well full of flowers – yews and heather. … We go to Philippe’s new studio … - [The pastel of] The courtyard of Recloses, in the old well there are geraniums, this red touch is very beautiful amid the heather. …) (Massé, 10 November 1929, p.
