This drawing, known from an old photograph, decorates the cover (fig. 1) of the Dutch edition of Emanuel Swedenborg's work Hemel en Hel1, which was translated by Gerrit Barger, founder of the Swedenborg movement in Holland and Belgium.


1. In 1758 Swedenborg publishes in London five new works. One of which is: De coelo et ejus mirabilibus et de inferno, ex auditis et visis (Heaven and its wonders and hell).
